The Holy Writings say, “No eye has ever seen or no ear has ever heard
or no mind has ever thought of the wonderful things
God has made ready for those who love Him.”
1 Corinthians 2:8-10
I reluctantly tell about visions and revelations from the Lord.
I was caught up to the third heaven fourteen years ago.
Whether I was in my body or out of my body, I don’t know—only God knows.
But I do know that I was caught up to paradise
and heard things so astounding
that they cannot be expressed in words,
things no human is allowed to tell.
2 Corinthians 12:1-4
God knew what he was doing from the very beginning.
He decided from the outset to shape the lives of those who love him
along the same lines as the life of his Son.
The Son stands first in the line of humanity he restored.
We see the original and intended shape of our lives there in him.
After God made that decision of what his children should be like,
he followed it up by calling people by name.
After he called them by name, he set them on a solid basis with himself.
And then, after getting them established, he stayed with them to the end, gloriously completing what he had begun.
So, what do you think? With God on our side like this, how can we lose?
If God didn’t hesitate to put everything on the line for us,
embracing our condition and exposing himself to the worst
by sending his own Son,
is there anything else he wouldn’t gladly and freely do for us?
I bless God every chance I get;
my lungs expand with his praise.I live and breathe God;
if things aren’t going well, hear this and be happy:
God met me more than halfway,
he freed me from my anxious fears.
Look at him; give him your warmest smile.
Never hide your feelings from him.
When I was desperate, I called out,
and God got me out of a tight spot.
Open your mouth and taste, open your eyes and see—
how good God is. Blessed are you who run to him.
God keeps an eye on his friends.
Is anyone crying for help?
God is listening, ready to rescue you.
If your heart is broken, you’ll find God right there;
if you’re kicked in the gut, he’ll help you catch your breath.
Sing joyful songs to the Lord!
Praise the mighty rock
where we are safe.
Come to worship him
with thankful hearts
and songs of praise.
The Lord is the greatest God,
king over all other gods.
Then I looked and saw a Lamb standing in the center of the throne
that was surrounded by the four living creatures and the elders.
The Lamb looked as if it had once been killed.
The Lamb went over and took the scroll
from the right hand of the one who sat on the throne.
After he had taken it, the four living creatures and
the twenty-four elders knelt down before him.
Then they sang a new song:
“You are worthy
to receive the scroll
and open its seals,
because you were killed.
And with your own blood
you bought for God
people from every tribe,
language, nation, and race.
I will praise the Lord no matter what happens.
I will constantly speak of his glories and grace.
I will boast of all his kindness to me.
Let all who are discouraged take heart.
Let us praise the Lord together and exalt his name.
For I cried to him and he answered me!
He freed me from all my fears.
Others too were radiant at what he did for them.
Theirs was no downcast look of rejection!
This poor man cried to the Lord—and the Lord heard him and saved him out of his troubles.
Put God to the test and see how kind he is!
See for yourself the way his mercies shower down on all who trust in him.
